  • Orange and Brand Working Together to Deliver HSCSD Solutions

Brand Communications Limited is one of Orange's major strategic suppliers in the field of GSM data connectivity via HSCSD and GPRS.

Brand has already proved to customers worldwide how viable today's GSM data rates of 9.6kb/s can be. Now that HSCSD is offering data speeds of 28.8kb/s, customers will enjoy significantly higher throughputs. Brand and Orange are therefore well positioned to deliver complete HSCSD solutions to satisfy the latent demand for higher bandwidth and better applications.

Brand's products enhance the basic HSCSD bearer service by adding end-to-end mobile LAN/internet connectivity, spoofing, compression, call resilience and security. Session management via Brand means true LAN connectivity in a mobile environment. From Orange's perspective it improves the performance of HSCSD and it frees up valuable network resources when they are not being used, and from the customer's perspective it reduces the on-line time and enhances the data experience. Brand's Apollo solution supports the Nokia Cardphone II HSCSD PCMCIA device with 100% reliability, is geared to support any other emerging handsets, and is fully compatible with the higher V.110 network speeds.

The two products, Apollo in conjunction with HSCSD, have already been adopted by several large Orange accounts, and there are plans to extend the benefits to consumers for high-speed Orange.net access.

Whenever Orange mentions “session control” and “call recovery” in campaigns such as Wirefree™ Working they are referring to Apollo from Brand Communications. Session control turns a basic bearer service into a high-performance, useable and cost-effective solution, as Orange is now proving in the UK and beyond.
