  • Brand Communications WAP enable the press at Networks Telecom 2000

Brand Communications offers free use of WAP mobile phones to journalists visiting Networks Telecom 2000

An Ericsson R320 WAP mobile phone, free for the day, will be waiting for the first fifty press badge holders to visit Brand Communications stand at Networks Telecom this year. Supplied with enough credit to last the day, the phones will enable journalists to access press releases, new product information, details about exhibitors, events and conferences together with travel and news. Brand will also be running a second service open to all which will deliver Networks Telecom Internet and Intranet content via SMS to any GSM phone simply by dialing a number.

Martin Kendrick, Managing Director of Brand Communications, said: "As official sponsors of the Wireless Internet and Mobile Commerce events at Networks Telecom 2000, we thought we would do what we could to raise the awareness of Mobile Data and some of its capabilities. This innovative service will give journalists and visitors to Networks Telecom and Computer Telephony Expo UK 2000 the chance to try out WAP services for themselves. Whilst we at Brand Communications do not normally provide WAP content and usually leave that to some of our partners such as BTCellnet and Orange in the UK, we decided to build this official Networks Telecom WAP site to demonstrate some of the power and scalability of our HSCSD, GPRS and WAP Access and Message delivery platform. Our biggest problem will be that of network capacity with so many people using their phones in one localised area but we are sure that the capabilities and possibilities for the business community will be there for all to see”. Phones can be collected from the Mobile Data Roadshow Lorry outside Hall 17 at the Birmingham NEC on the first day of Networks Telecom - 27 June 2000 and returned to the Brand Communications stand (20G70) at the end of the day. Brand will also be demonstrating full high speed LAN and Internet Access over GSM and satellite bearers as well as its new Voice over IP solution.

Brand will also be running a number of seminars and workshops during the exhibition in the “Solutions Centre”. These will cover amongst other things how to build GSM LAN access and WAP systems that will really work and deliver real business benefits and will also deliver an insight into how the future for Mobile Data is shaping up.

Networks Telecom 2000 runs from 27-29 June 2000.
