Brand Communications has co-founded the Mobile Management Forum
The Forum's goal is to accelerate the deployment of mobile devices and applications within the Enterprise
Huntingdon, UK, 7th June 2000
Brand Communications announced today that it is a co-founder of the Mobile Management Forum, a consortium dedicated to speeding the adoption of wireless and mobile solutions within the enterprise.
The Mobile Management Forum was formed as the result of a six month study by The Open Group on the key challenges facing early corporate and government adopters of wireless devices and applications. The research identified five major challenges which need to be resolved to accelerate the marketplace and which the Forum will begin addressing as its first order of business.
The five challenges are as follows:
- Session management of wireless devices and applications
- Data Synchronisation of mobile devices and networked data
- Co-existence of various wireless Local Area Network (LAN) and emerging wireless Personal Area Network (PAN) technologies
- Authentication, authorisation and accounting requirements related to wireless data devices and applications
- Wireless device-independent content origination
The Mobile Management Forum will leverage The Open Group’s expertise in enterprise integration and its diverse membership to bring together leading wireless vendors with corporate and government customers to drive early market acceptance of mobile devices and applications.
The successful integration of wireless and mobile devices and applications into the enterprise is a key component of enabling global e-business solutions,” said Allen Brown, President and CEO of The Open Group. “The Open Group is reaching out to the leading players in the wireless and mobile world to identify and develop relevant opportunities for our industry.”
Joining the Mobile Management Forum is a major step forward in our efforts to promote the uptake of mobile data solutions,” said Martin Kendrick, Managing Director, Brand Communications. Brand is a world leader in the provision of robust mobile data connectivity through it’s ‘spoofing’ and session management technology.
Session management and intelligent call control are critical to the success and uptake of mobile data solutions,” said Kendrick.
